SilentPCReview har jämfört en handfull lågprofilskylare för Intels sockel 755. Det är inget stort test men SPCR är som alltid kunnigt kräsna vad gäller ljudnivå. Den enda relatvt högpresterande kylaren i testet, Scythe Big Shuriken är inte oväntat i en klass för sig men visar sig också vara svårmonterad. Arctic Cooling Alpine 7 GT är ett bättre val för den som bara vill ha något som för mindre oväsen än standardkylarna, dessutom till en låg kostnad.
The [Big] Shuriken is the best cooler of the bunch, in a league of its own. Not only did it claim a substantial performance lead, it easily has the smoothest, quietest fan. Our only but very serious complaint is the LGA775 stock mounting mechanism — it is a very poor choice given the tiny space between them and the main fin array above it.
The Alpine 7 GT is a fairly good choice for a small LGA775 cooler, especially if it is to replace one of Intel's low profile stock cooling units. At higher fan speeds, it is a step below the full-sized Intel heatsinks, but as the fan speed is decreased, its wide fin spacing gives it the advantage. Its fan is not the best, but at lower speeds it is fairly innocuous, especially compared to the competition.
